OBSERVATION SHEET
Name of the School Observed: Central II Elementary School
School Address: Calamba City, Laguna Date of Visit: November 27, 2013
December 4, 2013
December 11, 2013
Grade/Year Level: Grade 3 Subject Area: Mathematics
Science
Filipino

  1. What principles in teaching-learning were commonly applied?

  • It was 27th day of November when I was first introduced to Central II Elementary School to observe, I was assigned to Grade 3 pupils of section Aries. It was their Mathematics subject and the teacher is Mrs. Luningning and their topic for the day is about measurements particularly the area of squares. I noticed that the teacher practice the principle of providing opportunities for learners. First, the teacher explains the topic itself, and then gives more examples so that the students will understand it better. After giving sample problems, the students are asked to participate. They are called randomly to answer the problem written on the blackboard. This type of approach is very effective because the students will also enhance their social interaction with his or her other classmates aside from their mental skills to solve the given problem, the reason why is that after answering the question, the students are asked to explain on how and what did they do to answer the question.

The following week on the 4th day of December, I was assigned to another section of Grade 3 pupils, their subject is Science and their teacher is Ma’am Che. By that time, they were checking their assignment, and the process of checking was good. They review each question one by one and recall their previous discussion. It is very effective, so that the teacher will know if the topic discussed was retained on the students mind and if the students really understand the subject topic that was discussed. After checking the

assignment, Ma’am Che proceeds to introduce a new topic. As a sort of review, the
teacher asked briefly what they discussed last meeting. And then going to the new topic, the principle of teaching-learning that was commonly applied was the wise use of resources. Ma’am Che presented a chart of the different kinds and layers of soil. The wise use of materials really caught the attention of students that made them retain their interest on the topic.

On the 11th day of December I was assigned to section Pisces of Grade 3. Ma’am May Ann is their teacher and the subject was Filipino. The teaching-learning that was applied is sharing of experiences of the teacher and the students. They are particularly discussing about Proper and Common Nouns and the students are asked to make their own constructed sentences out of the given proper and common nouns. The strategy used by the teacher is very effective because the students will be able to relate their experiences and all the other things that they know in constructing a sentence.

  1. What instructional materials were used in teaching?
Grade 3
  • Mathematics – Mrs. Luningning
The traditional chalk, eraser and blackboard were used by the teacher. Nothing will beat these traditional materials when it comes to solving problems in Mathematics. The chalk, eraser and blackboard are used to write the indicated problems.
  • Science- Ma’am Che
The instructional materials used by the teacher are charts, chalk, eraser, blackboard and microphone. She used the charts so that the students will be able to see clearly the kinds and layers of the soil; the chalk, eraser and blackboard for additional key words and examples for the pupils; and the microphone so that even the students are many inside the classroom they will be able to hear her properly.
  • Filipino- Ma’am May Ann
The instructional materials used by the teacher are manila papers, chalk, eraser and blackboard. The manila paper serves as visual aids for the students, wherein the topic to

be discussed was written; chalk, eraser and blackboard are used for additional notes that will help the students.

  1. Which of the principles in teaching facilitate the cognitive, metacognitive and positive motivational processes of learning?
  • As I observed all the principles as shown by the different teachers they have their own way on how they achieved the: cognitive; metacognitive; and motivational process of learning for the pupils.
In the cognitive aspect, wherein the intellectual operation from the lower level of simple recall of information to more complex one and the high- level of thinking process. It includes the students’ ability to recognize and recall the information taught; understand the meaning of the information; how to use the information; to generate new ideas and knowing the worth of the idea.
In the metacognitive aspect, includes the learners’ awareness of the information; having the interest of the subject matter; showing tentative belief on the value; and demonstrating consistent beliefs and behaviors that will relate their way of life.
In the positive motivational process of learning, involves the pupils’ all in all coordination; communication of one’s ideas and feelings.

A motivational view of learning, performance, and behavior modification.
-Dalbir Bindra-
Psychological Review, Vol. 81

Advances a theory of learning which wholly discards the response-reinforcement principle. It attributes learned behavior modifications to the building of central representations of contingencies between situational stimuli and incentive stimuli; certain situational stimuli are thereby turned into conditioned incentive-discriminative stimuli. It is proposed that central motivational states, generated by the joint influence of organismic-state variables and unconditioned or conditioned incentive stimuli, influence the response-eliciting potency of particular situational stimuli. The specific response form that emerges is a fresh construction created by the momentary motivational state and the spatial-temporal distribution of various distal and contact discriminative-incentive stimuli in the situation. These and related working assumptions are shown to clarify certain long-standing problems of behavior theory and to provide a basis for deriving satisfactory interpretations of several hitherto perplexing phenomena of conditioning, motivational modulation of instrumental behavior, and observational learning.

Scribble a brief reflection of your feelings and insights from your observation experience.

  • It was really an experience to be remembered. Seeing the different strategies and approach the teachers are using to suit the different needs of the students. In my own opinion, it will really help the teacher if he or she knows the necessities of his or her students. This will help the teacher on how he or she would deal with students. Also providing and making use of your provided materials for the topic will enhance the students’ knowledge and will also make them interested on what the teacher is teaching. And also knowing whom students need extra attention will make the class as a whole more progressive. And after observing the class, I really appreciate the essence of giving assignments to the students. Giving assignments or home works will help them practice the topic discussed to them, aside from this it will also help them to furnish their skills and abilities. Another thing is that, a class is composed of different learners’ it is very effective if the teacher know how to handle them, the teacher should promote equality for all of the students. And having a lesson plan is a must, so that the teacher will have a goal to achieve for the students, it is also a teacher’s guide on what to do for the students.

LOOKING THROUGH THE MEANINGFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCE

MY TOOLS

As you visit a school and observe the teaching-learning practices, use the activity forms to document your observation and write your insights or reflections.

MY JOURNAL
Name of the School Observed: Central II Elementary School
School Address: Calamba, Laguna Date of Visit: January 8, 2014
Grade/ Year Level: Grade III-Aries Subject Area: Math
Topic: How to use the Scientific Calculator
Description of Teaching Strategies:
Since the subject area was Mathematics, the teacher used the strategy of first beginning with what the students knew like; What is a calculator? Have they ever seen one? What do they think is the importance of it? And What is the importance of it. After, a little exchange of thoughts and ideas between the students, the teacher proceed to the topic. The strategy she used after the first stated was to move from simple to complex concepts. First the simple fundamental operations on the calculator, the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. After doing so, they proceed to the more complex one like the sin ɵ, cos ɵ and tan ɵ. Through this strategy the students would find learning new concepts more easily because they started from recalling and refreshing their prior knowledge and acquiring new ones.
Description of Learning Activities:
The learning activities conducted was interesting and at the same time fun. I said this so because of the first activity they do: The teacher assigned the students to form 2 big groups; the objective of the activity was to test their ability to use properly the scientific calculator with accuracy in solving the problems written on the board. This type of activity will surely caught the attention of the students because as we all knew every child loved to play, this type of activity would be very effective to the pupils, but it may be a bit noisy and disorganized that’s why the teacher need to facilitate to maintain order among the class.
Description of Learner’s Participation (proportion of learners who participated and quality of participation):
It was very amazing that almost all of the pupils participated from the class, from the recitation up to the activity presented to them. Each pupil was very active, very open about their ideas and willing to be corrected if they miscalculated or miscomputed the problem. Maybe the reason behind this was the effective strategies that suit each and every one of the pupils in the class.

Scribble a brief reflection of your feelings and insights from your observation experience.

  • As I observe the class of Grade III-Aries this only proved that they are very well disciplined and fast learners. I also noticed that they are very much interested to learn, they pursue very hard not just to understand but to comprehend the topic. Also realized that the teacher’s strategies and prepared learning activities will greatly contribute to the pupil’s learning. The teacher should also think for new ideas in order to make the class alive and to keep the pupil’s interest in the class. Just like what Mrs. Halili did, she think of a fun learning activity that not just only will test the learners’ understanding but also something that the pupils will enjoyed.

For this visit, document your observations and the responses to the interviews you conduct by using the activity forms provided for you.

An Observation Guide for Assessing Teacher
1. What are the objectives of the lesson?
Science
Topic: Understanding matter
Subtopic: Changes that happen in matter
Objectives:
  • Identify what is matter.
  • Cite some examples of matter.
  • Recognize the changes that matter undergoes. (Physical & Chemical Change)

Mathematics
Topic: Addition
Subtopic: Adding one-to-five digit numbers with five-digit numbers without regrouping
Objectives:
  • Develop the skill of addition.
  • Distinguish the ones, tens, hundreds, thousands and ten thousands
  • Solve one-to-five digit numbers by five-digit numbers without regrouping.

English (Reading)
Objectives:
Topic: Parts of a Book
Subtopic: Table of Contents versus Index
  • Identify the parts of the book.
  • Differentiate the Table of Contents from the Index.
  • Explain the benefits of knowing the Table Contents and Index.

2. How do the learners participate in learning activities?
  • In all subject areas the pupils respond very well. When there are activities such as recitations, most of the pupils respond actively and share their insights and own view about the topic, the pupils are also open to ask some questions and they are not afraid or shy to tell about their queries. And when it comes to seat works and board works, I can really notice the focus of the pupils to answer the questions provided for them.
3. What instructional materials are employed?
Science
  • charts and posters
  • chalk
  • black board
  • eraser
  • manila paper

Mathematics
  • flash cards
  • chalk
  • black board
  • eraser

English (Reading)
  • sample indexes
  • manila paper with a drawing of table of contents
  • book
  • chalk
  • eraser
  • black board

4. How does the teacher assess the learning in the lesson? Is she assessing the process or the product?
  • All of the teachers I interviewed focus on assessing the pupils through the product, because according to them, it is what matters most and every student has different learning style to study the lesson, what’s important is that all of them should see the outcome of their learning and this way the learning will take place easily.

5. What reasons does the teacher give in having such learning activities?
  • In Science the teacher preferred to have an activity through the use of graphic organizers.
(In a bubble map, on the top most bubble is matter, under this are the two changes of matter which are the physical and chemical. The task of the pupils is to put the sample changes in the appropriate column.)
  • The reason for this kind of learning activity is that the pupils can distinguish easily the difference between the two said changes.
  • In Mathematics as usual the traditional board works are considered as the learning activities.
  • The reason for this activity is to test the ability of the student and to practice their skill correctly and accurately.
  • In English, the teacher prepared an activity that the pupils are given a sample index and table of contents and they need to answer the questions that come after it.
  • The reason behind this activity is to measure the speed of the students to identify the parts of the sample index and table of content and answer the questions appropriately.

Observer

After going through the process of observation, thinking, and reflection of your experience, you surely have drawn some insights and new understanding of teaching and learning processes. Please express your thoughts, feelings, insights or new understanding through creative visual representation here. Then share your reflection with your FS teacher and classmates.

  • What captured my attention most is how important your learning materials and resources would be. It’s because that having materials that is very “catchy” and interesting will surely get the attention of the learners especially those of the primary level. It is most important to have creative visual aids in dealing with the pupils. Also, it is very essential to prepare the learning activities and make sure that it’s just not only educational but fun in some ways, make it to a point that the pupils will enjoy these activities.

Findings

  • In my findings about the child, I learned that he is taken care very good even though his parents separated, his mother stand as the provider of the family.

Conclusions

  • Therefore I conclude that in order to have great aspects whether physically, emotionally, morally and cognitive aspects are that is a good background and rising up of families.

Recommendations

  • I would strongly recommend to the family to help their son interact with other individual so that he would overcome his shyness.

MY ANALYSIS

1. From your home visit and interview, what do you think is the style of parenting experienced by the learner? Explain your answer.
  • In my own view, I think that the type of parenting her mother id conducting is more on authoritarian because it is the mother that decides and what should be done in behalf of the father. That's why it is just appropriate if she is more of an authoritarian.

  • 2.Relating your data with what you learned from child development, what family factors do you think contribute to the development and over-all adjustment of the learner in school?
  • Maybe the separation of his parents is a factor that greatly contributes to the development of the child. Maybe the reason why he is shy is that for him he is kind of different to others. In all over adjustment he is coping with it may be the reason is the proper guidance of his mother and the support of his siblings.

  • 3.Does the communication between the home-school have an effect on the learner? If yes, what are these effects?
  • Of course it has. As we know our parents are our first teachers that are why if they taught us very well we will be able to cope up to the outside world we will be dealing with. Because if we are not taught properly at home we will not be able to understand the essence of everything.

OBSERVATION REPORT

Name of the School Observed: Mayapa Elementary School
School Address: Mayapa, Laguna
Date of Visit: October 11, 2013

As I observed the class of Grade 5 section Matiyaga, I noticed the different abilities of every learner. There are students who are listening very eagerly to the teacher and very much interested in the subject matter, there are some who talks to their seatmates and also discuss some of their businesses; others are very vocal of what they wanted to express making them a little bit noisy.

While observing, I noticed that those pupils near the board or in the first rows are very attentive to their teacher and communicates more and have more interaction in the class. While those at the back or in last rows has their own “mini” discussion of their own and some are just quiet while in their seats.

According to the teacher, one of the students who is very active during class discussion is a daughter of a tailor and lives in a nice place, while one of the students who is quite noisy at the back lives in a kind of place that is kind of noisy or not peaceful.

Their behavior is very different maybe the reason behind this is their socio-economic status. Just like if a pupil lives in a place that is harmonious and happy to live in surely he or she will adapt and cope with this kind of environment and on the other side if a pupil is used to be raised in an environment where conflict attributes this may have a huge effect on the learner.

The teacher provides right assistance to those who need her support the most. She is very approachable which is very good because her students will not be able to be shy to ask for help. Even if she focuses more on the students who needs her the most, she still didn't forget the other students.

MY ANALYSIS
  1. Did your observation match the information given by the teacher? Were you able to correctly identify who among the students performed well and who did not? What behavior helped you identify them? (volunteering to answer, responding to teacher's directions, etc.)
  • Yes of course my observation matched the information given by the teacher. I certainly identified those pupils who performed well and not so actively performing well. The behavior helped me identify the well performing pupils is that they are very fond of raising their hands when the teacher asks them several questions about the subject matter, and I be able to identify those pupils who are not so good in class by means of when the teacher asks them a particular question they wouldn't be able to answer the question and often when the teacher asks them they just remain quiet.

    1. Describe the differences in ability levels of the students in the class. Is there a wide gap between the students who are performing well and those that are not?
  • Those students who perform well in the class have the ability to easily understand and cope up with the lesson while those students who performed not so well takes a longer time for them to understand the lesson. There’s a gap but it is not wide enough, because as said it only takes time for some students to understand the subject matter but on the bottom line they still can cope and join as others are doing.

    1. Describe the methods used by the teacher in handling the students' differences in abilities. How did the students respond to the teacher?
  • The methods used by the teacher in class in handling her students whether high or low achiever is very fair. She addresses the class as a whole and not by making her students think that there is a huge barrier among those students who performed well than those who are not.

MY REFLECTIONS
  1. Recall the time when you were in the elementary or high school. Recall the high and low achievers in your class. How did your teacher deal with differences in abilities? Was your teacher effective?
  • When I was in elementary my teacher used to treat us fairly. She is very effective and approachable because she helped on the things that maybe difficult and hard for us. For instance when a lot of us didn't catch up a certain topic she discussed she would gladly repeat it all over again just to make us understand the discussion. She also cites more examples for us to master the topic. She is not a quitter which is very admirable for a teacher she will not stop unless all of the class understands the topic.

2. With the principle of individual differences in mind, what methods and strategies will you remember in the future to ensure that you will be able to meet the needs of both the high and low achievers in your class?
  • In the future as I will be teaching the next generation, I will never forget this desire of letting the students understand all of the lessons. It is not enough if only some can fully understand it. It must be the class as a whole because all of them deserve equal right and treatment.

INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES AND LEARNING INTERACTION

OBSERVATION REPORT

Name of School Observed: Mayapa Elementary School

School Address: Mayapa, Laguna

Date of Visit: September 06, 2013

As I observed the Grade 5 students handled by Ms. Jennifer by the time I visited, I noticed the different approaches of interaction by the students to everyone in the classroom. The students interact respectively and politely, they use “po” and “opo” when they are talking and asking something to their teacher. As I observed this practice I found out that there is a boundary to the teacher and student in a very nice way, because the students knew that they should use polite words when interacting to their teacher for the main reason that their attainment in life are far enough. On the other hand, the students interact with their classmates in a very comfortable manner, very ease and with no hesitations. There are students or group of students who interact mostly with their teacher.

While observing the learners who seated at the front and the back, I noticed that they behave almost the same. They interact actively, during class discussion all of the learners from the front or back participate, they raise their hands to answer the teacher’s question and when they want to share their ideas and insights during the subject matter. This only shows the unity and oneness of class their uniformity in participating in the class.

The relationship among the learners is very light and jolly. They accept ones ideas and thoughts; they do not quarrel on their different point of views and beliefs but rather accept and understand one another. Students cooperate with one another especially during group works, each member participate and shares his or her insights. If there are instances that they compete with one another it is in a form of a friendly competition. This kind of competition will boost the students eagerness to be competitive with one another and will help in their learning and developmental process.

Those students who participate actively are those that stand as class leaders, they are the ones who usually excel in the class and for those who seek the most for help are those who are at side or corner of the class maybe because they are far from the board that’s why they ask for more help.

When a student is called and can’t answer the teacher’s question, some of his classmates try to help him by whispering the correct or right answer and there are also students who will just raise their hands so that they will the one to be called. This also shows the unity of the class and their concern to their classmates which is good because they care for one another.

The students group themselves usually by gender, this is just normal because the students will choose a group that has their same interests. For example there are groups that is all girls because they have the same likes like playing girly things; there are also group that is all boys because they share same interests like war craft and action games; and there are also mixed social groupings, even that they are different gender they still have the same ideals for example a group who loves to play indoor or outdoor games belong to the same group, because they share common likes.

Learners interact with each other freely and with no rules to follow they just talk about what they want without any restrictions. Almost all groups talk about today’s tending topics like: the latest television sitcoms; computer games; hottest celebrities and icons; newly upgraded gadgets; and different games they want to play.

MY ANALYSIS

  1. Identify the persons who play key roles in the relationships and interactions in the classrooms. What roles do they play? Is there somebody who appears to be the leader, a mascot/joker, an attention seeker, a little teacher, a doubter/pessimist?
  • The main persons who play key roles in the classroom is the teacher himself or herself and of course the learners. The teacher plays the role of a facilitator he or she guides and facilitates the learner when doing their perspective works. There are students who plays to be a class leader, she is the one whom facilitates and control the noise level and regulates her classmates when the teacher is not around; there are a lot of jokers in the class they usually balance the class and make a light atmosphere when the class gets too boring, they usually crack jokes to make the class happy; there is also an attention seeker in the class, he will surely get the attention of the teacher by doing different acts and some of this acts is not good but still he will do it just to get attention; there are also little teachers in the class, they teach their other classmates when some of them didn’t understand the lesson, these students are very caring and have the heart to help others; there are also doubters or pessimist in the class who easily gets disappointed and stop working on a certain activity when they find it very difficult or hard.

  1. Are the students coming from the minority group accepted or rejected by the others? How is this shown?
  • Yes. This is shown by making them feel that they belong to the group even though they belong to a different minority group. Their other classmates make them join to their group to let them feel that they are united.

  1. How does the teacher influence the class interaction considering the individual differences of the students?
  • The teacher influence greatly in the individual differences of the students by not having biases. The teacher should treat his or her students equally so that the students will feel that they are all the same in the eyes if the teacher.

4.What factors influence the grouping of learners outside the classroom?
  • I think the factors that influence the grouping of learners outside the classroom is their common interests. Because as an individual you will go with the group that you’ll feel the sense of belongingness and where you can share your likes and dislikes because as you join a certain group this will reflect who you are. And if that’s the case you will be going to the group that will surely suit your personality and attitude.

MY REFLECTIONS
  1. How did you feel being in that classroom? Did you feel a sense of oneness or unity among the learners and between the teacher and the learners?
  • When I’m in the classroom, I already feel that I’m already a teacher. I also feel the sense of oneness and unity among the learners because I can see their eagerness to strive hard so that they can learn a certain topic. And also the unity among the teacher and the learners because unity implies uniformity and harmony and the class I visited portray this characteristic.

  1. In the future, how would you want the learners in your classroom to interact? How will you make this happen?
  • In the future, I want my students to interact in a way that they will feel no tension at all. I want them to express freely what they feel but in a manner that they will not offend their other classmates. I will make this happen by briefing them and by letting they know the essence of harmony in the classroom and making them realize that we will all benefit if we practice this type of interaction.

  1. How will you encourage all learners, regardless of religious, ethnic or racial background to interact and participate?
  • I will encourage all learners regardless of their differences to interact and participate by letting them know that even we have our own differences we still have to participate and interact with others because after all we are in a world with different characteristics, attitudes, personalities, religious beliefs and differences but we are all sons on God Almighty that’s why we should communicate with one another no matter we have different views in life.

Field Study 1: The Learner's Development and Environment

Episode 3
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND LEARNING

MY TOOLS

An Observation Guide for the Learners' Characteristics

  1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners. Note their ages.
  2. How many boys are there? How many girls?
  3. Focus on their behavior. Are they already able to manage their own behavior?
  4. Can the learners' already work independently?
  5. Describe their span of attention.
  6. Look into their listening skills and ability to concentrate.

Name of the School: Mayapa Elementary School
Observed: Grade 5
Location of the School: Mayapa, Laguna
Date of Visit: August 16, 2013

As I observed the Grade 5 students whose age ranges from 10-13, they were doing some activities such as seat works. While observing I found out their different characteristics; some students are very quiet and really focusing on their task, some are chatting with their circle of friends while doing their work and there are few who are very fond of roaming around the classroom. The total class population is 41 students; composed of 21 boys and 20 girls. As I observed the different characteristics they portray I noticed that even though they're having chit chats or little conversation to their other classmates they can still focus on their assigned tasks and they can manage their behavior by finishing their assigned works. The learners can already work independently; they don't need any more the assistance of their homeroom teacher, if that so they are only asks some questions that they do not understand. The span of attention of the students are wide enough just as patience on working with their assignment. On their listening skills, I noticed that they are mature enough to follow the instructions given to them on their ability to concentrate, even their destructed to some ideas such as playing and doing their own discussion to their peer group they can still manage to finish their assigned task.

An Observation Guide for the CLASSROOM VISIT

  1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teaching aids, books, students' belongings, supplies, etc.)
  2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room?
  3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules?
  4. What are the daily routines done by the teacher? (prayer, attendance, assignment of monitors, warm-up activities, etc.) How are they done?
  5. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement?
  6. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this managed?
  7. If a learner is not following instructions or is off-task, what does the teacher do? (behavior strategies)
  8. What does the teacher do to reinforce positive behaviors? (behavior strategies)

Observation notes:

As I observed the classroom I noticed the different areas in the classroom for storage like the; cabinets containing the different laboratory apparatus for science experiments an example of their experiment is a bread that is placed inside a Tupperware that they are waiting to be rotten; there are also shelves containing their different educational activities; the learning aids or materials are placed on the teacher's table then to be posted in the blackboards. There are rules and regulations posted in their classroom such as no bullying and here they have the policy of honesty. Of course the students participated in making their home room rules because they are the one involved with this practice. The daily routines are: the class starts with a prayer then continues with the checking of attendance done by the home room teacher, the class discussion and when the classes end they end it with a prayer also. The seating arrangement is in the basis of alternation (boy, girl) process. The reason for this arrangement is that the students will be able to socialize well and orderly to the opposite sex. The noise level of the classroom is on its peak. The reason why is because the students are in their stage of age or in the level of exploration and expressing publicly their ideas that's why they may be a bit noisy. This noise level is managed by the teacher by talking to the students. If a learner does not follow instructions given to him or her teacher provides a disciplinary action and after the teacher asks nicely why he or she did not follow and will make the students realize that they should follow. The teacher do to reinforce positive behavior is by talking nicely to the students and being a good role model to them.

  1. Reinforcement of Positive Behavior
The teacher gives acknowledgment to every student that will do positive behavior and excellence in the class.
The effect on the students is that they will be able to strive hard to be excellent in class.

MY ANALYSIS

  1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners' behavior?
  • The classroom organization and routines affect the learners' behavior by knowing their limitations. The minds of the students are set that they rules to be followed because of this they will practice their proper attitude and act politely.

  1. What should the teacher have in mind when he/she designs the classroom organization and routines? What theories and principles should you have in mind?
  • The teacher should have in mind that he or she mingles with students so that he or she will be more careful while making the set of routines, the should make it to a point that the students are oriented and they participate while making the rules. And also the teacher should prepare ice breakers so that the students will not get bore and will retain the interest in studying.

  1. Which behavior strategies were effective in managing the behavior of the learners? In motivating students? Why were they effective?
  • Behavior strategies effective in managing the behavior of the learners are by doing positive reinforcement. The teacher should play the characteristics of being caring and should motivate the learners to pursue their efforts in their study by giving rewards or incentives if the student performs excellence in class whether academically or non-academically by doing this so, the students will strive hard, will actively participate and will perform very well.

MY REFLECTIONS

  1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade/year level do you see yourself? What routines and procedures would you consider for this level? Why?

  • As I imagine myself organizing my classroom in the future, I see that I will be handling Grade 1 students. If I want to handle Grade 1 students I will do routines or procedures that will surely suit their age range. For example when the class starts I will teach them to pray first before anything else, I would also imply that there would be story telling session so I can get their interest and slowly going to the subject matter in a way that they will not feel hazard but instead they will enjoy. I could also conduct ice breakers, a little dance step and singing a song to stimulate the energy of the students. And I will also provide few minutes for rest because during this stage of the learners they will surely get tire as time and activities pass by. Rest minutes will help them to regain their energy.

    2. Make a list of the rules are likely to implement in this level. Why would you choose these rules?
  • Uniform of the students should be worn properly.
  • School I.D. should always be present.
  • Boys should observe proper haircut.
  • Boys and Girls should observe proper hygiene all the times.
  • The students should raise their hands if they want to say something.

  • I choose these set of rules so that the students will observe cleanliness, and being orderly so that the students will be able to be responsible of their own being. I would also like to promote unity inside the classroom and good relationship between myself and the students.

    3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?
  • Yes. For the main reason that they will be the one who will benefited and will follow these set of rules. And they should also be aware of these rules so that they will know their limitations.
